HOW TO BUILD YOUR lunchbox

From the freezer • The freezer is your best friend when it comes to prepping for lunches. Stock it well with a wide variety of ready-to-go foods. Sandwiches, pizzas, quiches, bars and slices can be pre-portioned and frozen; wrap pies and muffins individually first.

Fill the pantry • The pantry is ideal for non-perishable foods that will be eaten within a few of weeks. Pastries, trail mixes and crackers keep well in airtight containers. Empty large packets of pretzels and chips into containers so they're easy to scoop into snack-sized portions.

FRIDGE FRESH • If you can, set aside an area in the fridge for all your fresh food prep. Salads, wraps with dairy or lettuce, dips and vegie sticks can be pre-made and stored. Make fruit and yoghurt cups or jelly treats directly in jars or cups with lids for easy grab and go snacks.
